Back online and on track for exciting Autumn events
September is upon us which means that the kids are back at school and it’s time for us to get back to work. We hope that you managed to escape the office for a little sunshine and R&R during the break and are raring to go for the year ahead.
The Word Connection team has had a fabulous summer in beautiful Biarritz. Although summer may be nearly over, there’s lots to look forward to this Autumn.
Here’s just a taste of some of the things we’re going to be up to in the next couple of months:
Having a Wales of a time at the ATC!
Between the 20th and 22nd of September, we’ll be attending the ATC Language Industry Summit 2018 at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff.
Run by the ATC (Association of Translation Companies), the event is a must-attend for those of us passionate about the UK language industry.
The theme for the 2018 event is ‘Changing Landscape: Uk language industry 202 and beyond’. The main topics covered during the three days will include Brexit and the future of UK LSPs, Transnational Organised Crime and Translation and insights from the European Parliament.
The event kicks off on Wednesday 19th September with pre-summit drinks and a tour of Cardiff Castle sponsored by Barclays Bank and we’d love to see you there. ATC has also announced that it will be holding its first Small Business Initiative on Saturday 22nd September which promises to be informative and fun.
October will see us heading off to the stunning city of Vienna for ND Vienna. The flagship event of ELIA (European Language Industry Association). Networking Days Vienna is one of the most important events in the language industry’s calendar. Elia events allow language professionals to update their skills and gain new perspectives on our ever changing industry.
Beginning on the 4th October, this year’s exciting event will cover the six topics of IT, Business Success Stories, GDPR, Interpreting, Soft Skills and Business Strategies.
Held at the Hilton Vienna Danube Hotel, the conference promises to be fun and informative with speakers including STP Nordic Executive Chairman Jesper Sandberg, Kaleidoscope GMBH Founder, Klaus Fleischmann and, Dragoman CEO, Umit Ozaydin amongst many others. We’ll be there, we hope you will too!
As the world continues to see rapid change, there’s never been a more exciting or important time for the language and translation industries. The word-connection team know you’ll join us in looking forward to yet another year of outstanding performance and hard work.
Don’t forget that, as Word Connectors, We provide training and employment to graduate translators as well as a student mentoring program in partnership with the University of East Anglia in the UK as part of our commitment to providing the highest quality translation and localisation services.
